Whilst exploring themes of social and political transactions through food, Abby developed 'Allegory of the long spoons' as part of her inital M Arch project at Central Saint Martins. The public performance references the story in in which diners in heaven and hell are presented with bountiful banquets and only long spoons from which to eat them. In hell, they are blinded by greed and cannot negotiate the tool and hence cannot eat, in heaven they happily feed each other and enjoy the spread.
The double ended utensil and associated furniture and dining arrangement explore themes of intimacy and trust. Mollie and Meg have since adopted feeding only each other at every meal time.
